Edgar Waye (E.W.) Poe, Jr. 82 of Hot Springs Village, AR, formerly of Corning, AR, was called home to his Heavenly Father on May 6, 2018. He was born to Edgar Waye Poe, Sr. and Lucille (Jones) Poe. He graduated from high school in Walnut Ridge, AR and attended Arkansas State University for two years. He served his country as a member of the Arkansas National Guard.
E.W. and his wife, Millie, made their home together in Corning, AR from 1963 to 1999 when he retired from State Farm Insurance after faithfully serving Clay County with successful agencies in Corning and Piggott. E.W. served as a First Baptist Church of Corning Sunday School teacher and deacon. When he wasn’t working, E.W. enjoyed the outdoors through bass fishing, quail hunting, and working in his yard. In retirement, E.W. served as a deacon at Balboa Baptist Church of Hot Springs Village and as a mentor in the Garland County Jail Ministry.
He is survived by Millie (Tyner) Poe and four children: Angie (Jay) Dennis of Lakeland, FL; Beth (Don) Pierce of Hot Springs Village, AR; Steve Poe of Paragould, AR and Julie (Terry) Amstutz of Stuttgart, AR as well as eight grandchildren: Will Dennis and Emily Dennis Howell, Lakeland, FL; John Mark Pierce, Little Rock, AR; Peyton Pierce, Hot Springs, AR; Lauren Ballew of Newport, AR, Samuel Amstutz of Stuttgart, AR; Joseph Amstutz of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Carlin Cole of Seymour, Texas. E.W. has five great grandchildren: Alex Chávez; Seymour, Texas; Crosby Dennis of Lakeland, FL; Kaleb and Kooper Ballew of Newport, AR, and Adalyne Pierce of Little Rock, AR. He is also survived by his sister, Tonda Poe Crider of Pocahontas, AR.
E.W. was a dedicated and loving father to his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, who returned the love of their Dad and Grandad.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 12, 2018 at 12:00 pm at the Balboa Baptist Church, Hot Springs Village, AR followed by a Memorial Service at 1:00 pm.
